What time should I arrive for class?

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your class, as we do start our classes right on time! Please allow plenty of time before class to get dressed, use the restroom, etc. For safety reasons, please do not let children sit poolside unless the instructor is present and in the pool. Failure to show up or arrive late (10 minutes) without a 24 hour notice will be counted as a NO SHOW and result in a loss of session, unless exigent circumstances arise.

How long does it take to learn to swim?

There is no “one size fits all” swim program and our program is completely customized to the student’s individual need. The student’s progress is determined by desire, attitude, level of fear, and confidence. Some students take to the water quickly and others are much more hesitant – either is completely normal. Remember the student is learning a new skill, and with learning anything new, this can be frustrating at times – please have patience! The most important thing – never compare the student’s progress to another. All students are different and our instructors are here to push them, but we need to allow them to learn at their own pace.

Bathroom Use:

We encourage all participants to arrive early enough to use the restroom before class begins. For all participants who are not potty trained, we require the use of a swim diaper in the pool. For children who are not comfortable using the restroom on their own, we ask that you remain in the observation area in the event that your child needs to use the restroom.

Do I or my child need to wear a swim cap?

If you or your child is prone to chill, a swim cap may help. We welcome and encourage this. For swimmers with long hair, we ask that it be tied back and away from the face with a rubber band so it does not interfere with learning to breathe.

Do I or my child need to wear goggles?

We strongly recommend goggles for children and adults learning to swim and during stroke development. Goggles will often increase one’s comfort in the water.

Cancellation/Sick Policy:

All non-weather-related cancellations require a 24-hour notice to the instructor or office, otherwise the lesson is forfeited. Children who have been ill should be kept at home. This is in the best interest of their health as well as the health of other class participants and the instructor. Unfortunately, non-attendance for any reason does not entitle you to a refund or a make-up class. We will make every attempt to offer a make-up class if LET US SWIM must cancel a lesson. Unfortunately, alternate make-up classes cannot be offered, nor does non-attendance to a make-up class entitle you to a refund.

How does the weather affect my or my child’s lesson?

Rain will not keep us from swimming. A light to mild rain will generally pass quickly and we will swim through it. Lightning and Thunder will keep us out of the pool. However, the weather in your area may be different from ours. If you receive no notification of cancellation then we are swimming. Weather-related cancellations will be made at the parents’/instructor’s discretion. You will be given your instructor’s personal contact information if you need to get a hold of them at any time. Lessons canceled due to weather will be rescheduled at no charge. If a lesson has already begun and needs to stop, due to weather, the remaining lesson time will be added to your remaining lessons.
